What has happened to Holland
"
Spoiler, the next day no table the guy they sent over was not the manager it was a circus again as they did not reserve a table for us, they finally sorted things and got a us a table with a competent waiter who we would have for the rest of the cruise and at least the service was good from this point forward. The ship is fine but HAL needs to step up in order to stay relevant, it doesn't seem like there is a good reason to go on HAL anymore because without quality food and service they don't have too much going for them.

Took a mini cruise from our home port San Diego to Vancouver.Positives: 1. Boarding was seamless and on the ship before noon. 2. Room was a veranda and very comfortable. Surprised there was a mini bathtub. Plenty of storage space though you need to use area under bed closest to the wall. Balcony was adequate. Mini fridge handy though space limited by for sale beverages.

We decided to take a back to back cruise since it was easier to hop on the ship in San Diego instead of flying to Vancouver. This happened to be our first cruise since covid started so were curious what changes that we would expect. Some of the changes were beneficial- using the navigator app is a big upgrade from the past daily paper agenda. Having the crew fill your plate cuts down people

This was our first cruise on HAL in 15 years...we usually go with Princess b/c we've sailed so often with them that we get all the perks. However, our 2 cruises with them since the pandemic weren't up to their previous standards and we really liked the itinerary for this one, so decided to try HAL again. It was a great decision. The ship itself was very well-run and it looked as though it had

Let me first start off with the good: The crew was very nice on the ship (except the guest services). They pamper you like you are a Saint, even if you do not want it. The ship was clean and neat. They communicated very well with the guests on all activities and upcoming shows. There were plenty of elevators and the ship was not overly crowded. The rooms were good size and the internet was decent.

Here’s what I wish I knew before I went. Excellent location for access to the front of the ship, spa, wet steam, dry sauna, hydro pool, gym, kid-free sundeck on deck 12. The food was excellent everyday except the first day in the Lido. On that day I got the lasagna from the buffet that was not very good. However I was told the lasagna in the dining room was much much better. In fact the lasagna

My extended family of 13 (4 couples, 5 teenagers) took a 7-day Caribbean Cruise from HAL Nieuw Amsterdam in early Jan. My wife and I had just taken a 10 day cruise in December on Carnival Venezia. It’s very interesting to compare the 2 trips. HAL clientele definitely skewed older, whiter, quieter, and better behaved. NA being the smaller ship, it didn’t have as many “extracurricular”

We took the two week cruise offered, which started December 30. We were at the start of this cruise a 3 star Mariner. We have always liked Holland America, and this has been our 11th cruise on this brand. That said, I have to say we have noticed small but important changes which because we are in a suite they are not that important, but if you do not have the perks of the suite, then you may have

On a cruise in January 2024 on the Nieuw Amsterdam. The ship was clean and our room stewards, Hendra & Eva, were attentive and kept our room clean and organized. While not top-notch, the food was pretty good. The chiefs were out and about making sure the serving staff was hoping and taking care of the guests. The itinerary was good and we did excursions in Turks and at Half Moon Cay,

As we were on our first cruise ever we chose the Niew Amsterdam because it is a mid-size ship. We spent a wonderful week. Embarkment and disembarkment went very smoothly and rapidly as a wheelchair was required for one of us. Easy process. No line!Once onboard, we were directed to Lido Market for lunch. PROS:Cabin, excellent food, very diversified more so very fresh, many specialty
