Why does China have one time zone?
The policy of having only one time zone was enacted by Mao to unify the nation. It is a weird thing for a country as large as China to have a single time zone but so far it didn't cause economic or social problems. The reason is the population distribution of China.
Because of a legacy of Mao Zedong and the Communist Party's desire for unified control. Though China is almost as wide as the continental United States, the whole country is officially in just one time zone — Beijing time.
China has only one time zone for the entire country: Beijing Time. India, the world's seventh-largest country at 3 million square kilometers (1.1 million square miles), has only one official time zone.
Imagine if the entire Earth had a single time zone. Noon would be the middle of the day in some places, but it would be morning, evening, and the middle of the night in others. Since different parts of Earth enter and exit daylight at different times, we need different time zones.
France, including its overseas territories, has the most time zones with 12 (13 including its claim in Antarctica). Many countries have daylight saving time, one added hour during the local summer, but this list does not include that information.

However, all of China observes the same time zone, which is UTC+8. It is internationally called China Standard Time (CST).
The reason is the population distribution of China. Beijing time is very accurate for most of the country. There were five time zones in former China from 1939 to 1949, but the new Chinese government abolished this rule, so now we have only one time zone.
The country with most time zones in the world is actually the nation of France. When you include the overseas territories that France possesses, it has a total of 12 different time zones. If you include the territory that France has claimed on the continent of Antarctica, France has a total of 13 different time zones.
Russia has 11 time zones . Q. Which country has the highest number of time zones?
Which country has the weirdest time zone?
If UTC+13 sounds like a bit of a bizarre cop-out, Kiribati takes it to the extreme, with part of the country operating 14 hours ahead of UTC. Kiribati's time zone choice makes it the first place on the planet to celebrate New Year.
Other nations, such as Nepal, use quarter-hour deviations. This means that there are approximately 40 time zones rather than 24. At the other extreme, some large countries, such as China and India, use a single time zone to simplify government management even though their boundaries extend far beyond 15° of longitude.
More Than 24 Time Zones
If each time zone were 1 hour apart, there would be 24 in the world. However, the International Date Line (IDL) creates 3 more. Also, several time zones are only 30 or 45 minutes apart, increasing the total number of standard time zones even further.
Complete answer: The People's Republic of China spans geographically across five different time zones when measured from the Greenwich Mean time or the Universal Coordinated time as the case may be. However, the country observes one time across all the extent of the territory of China.
China has one official time zone, China Standard Time (CST), which is 8 hours ahead of UTC. In China, the time zone is known as Beijing Time.
Scottish-born Canadian Sir Sandford Fleming proposed a worldwide system of time zones in 1876 - see Sandford Fleming § Inventor of worldwide standard time. The proposal divided the world into twenty-four time zones labeled A-Y (skipping J), each one covering 15 degrees of longitude.
Timezones by region
Until 1949, China had multiple time zones. Between 1912 and 1949, China had a total of 5 time zones, some only half an hour apart. After the end of World War II, the Chinese government merged all time zones to strengthen national unity and optimize administrative processes.
In 1949, after the Chinese Civil War, the Central People's Government abolished the five time zones and announced to use a single time zone UTC+08:00 named Beijing Time (北京时间).

To avoid confusion, time on schedules and public notices are typically formatted in the 24-hour system, so the times 19:45 and 07:45 are understood to be 12 hours apart from each other. Spoken Chinese predominantly uses the 12-hour system and follows the same concept as A.M. (上午; shàngwǔ) and P.M. (下午; xiàwǔ).
Does Russia have one time zone?
In Russia, there are eleven time zones with current times ranging from UTC+02:00 to UTC+12:00. Since October 26, 2014, Russia has not used daylight saving time (DST). Permanent DST was used from March 27, 2011 to October 26, 2014.
China is 3,705,407 square miles, 9,596,960 square kilometers, and 2,371,460,480 acres in total size. These measurements make the country the fourth largest in the entire world, behind Russia, Canada, and the United States of America.
China has only one time zone, which is known as China Standard Time (CST). The entire country, despite its large size, operates on the same time, which is 8 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+8). This means that no matter where you are in China, the time is the same.
The government disproves of the distorting of historical events and people that necessarily comes with time travel movies and TV shows. Perhaps more significantly, the State Administration for Radio, Film, & Television claims that time travel "promotes feudalism, superstition, fatalism, and reincarnation."
Large countries like U.S.A,Canada, Australia and Russia have many time zones because they have a large width and a vast East to West extent. Russia has as many as 11 time zones and USA has six zones.
