in the east bay. new details on where that investigation stands this morning. one student hospitalized, another arrested following a stabbing at a south

bay high school. we're live this morning with new steps the school is taking today to ease the impact on campus. plus, and here we are, 20, 24, four years after the pandemic. so memorial day, we're again getting very close to setting a new record. we anticipate that's going to be the trend this summer. getting ready for a busy holiday weekend, memorial day travel expected to hit levels not seen in decades and today should be the busiest day of all. what to know before you set out on those traveling plans. this is today in the bay your thursday morning. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia and i'm marcus washington. good thing we have mike in town to get us through that commute. this yeah, we'll get to that in just a bit. but first let's talk about that forecast today gary. it was a full moon this morning. yes it's beautiful. don't let that distract you though on your way to work. but yeah it's nice clear and also very bright and we can see in our live view of san jose not only are we still

5:02 am

seeing the moon, but the sun will also be rising soon. that indication that our days are getting longer and it's going to be a mild day as the wind picks up later today, it turns breezy, and the gusty winds and cooler temperatures will arrive tomorrow into our memorial day weekend. with below average temperatures, we're going to see a high today in fremont up to 73 degrees 73 for oakland. novato 75 degrees. we'll see a high of 66 in san francisco overall. cool as we're heading into our unofficial start of summer, mike , you are hearing about a traffic break. yeah, this is from overnight road work. so there's a crew that may cause a temporary traffic break eastbound 80 around highway four. so it's opposite your main commute, which hasn't kicked in anyway. coming off the carquinez bridge. so smooth drive right now. there's highway four, there's hercules rodeo, and we know the area a smooth drive outside of there as well. there is one crash in los altos hills around el monte. everything's

5:03 am

off to the right shoulder. just left it there because the activity just settled to the shoulder. we'll track that for just a couple minutes again. 280 around el monte back to you. all right. thank you. mike we do begin this morning with breaking news in the east bay. one person is dead after a mobile home catches fire. we have a live look near the scene. this is in pleasanton. that fire itself started around midnight along vineyard avenue, not too far from the shadow cliffs recreation area. firefighters say the initial call indicated one person was trapped inside. in addition to the person killed. another victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. the cause of the fire is still under investigation today in the bay's bob redell is at the scene. he'll join us with a live report coming up in our next half hour and new overnight. all lanes are open again on westbound 580 in oakland. that's where a car struck a pedestrian a little before 130 this morning near harbor way. that pedestrian died there at the scene that driver remained there. chp saying that there were no signs of

5:04 am

impairment. developing right now. intense video out of mexico . this is a moment, a stage collapse during a political campaign rally. at least nine people are now confirmed dead. today in the bay brie jackson live in washington this morning. and brie one of those victims, a child? that's right. marcus law. good morning. well in addition, about 63 people were also injured in that deadly collapse. this all happened late last night in mexico at san pedro garza garcia near the city of monterrey in the northern state of nuevo leon. the political rally was to promote lorena lorena canavati. she's the mayoral candidate for san pedro and the long shot presidential candidate jorge alvarez martinez. video uploaded to social media shows both candidates running from the stage. when the stage started

5:05 am

collapsing. a separate clip shows people screaming, running away and climbing out from under metal poles. canavati promoted the event on x before it got underway, the post ironically showing the full extent of the stage at the venue following the collapse, members of mexico's national guard arrived on the scene to provide support. three of those injured required surgery following a visit to a local hospital. martinez was among those taken to the hospital but was in good condition. now as mentioned, martinez is seen as a long shot in mexico's presidential race, currently in third place in most polls. uc berkeley doctoral candidate claudia shane sheinbaum is currently seen as the front runner among likely voters if she or challenge challengers socal galvez or gets elected, they would become the country's first female president. mexico's presidential

race is scheduled to take place in just over a week. back to you. so much going on. that's sad to see the tragedy there. brie thanks for the latest. funeral events are now underway in iran for the president and his entourage killed in last weekend's helicopter crash. waves of mourners lined up to pay last respects yesterday for ebrahim raisi, the country's foreign minister, and six others. the coffins were transported in a single vehicle through the capital of tehran, raisi is expected to be laid to rest in the holy city of mashhad tomorrow. and earlier this week, iran's supreme leader declared five days of national mourning happening. today, the city of san mateo unveils a new monument honoring its fallen heroes. the memorial will sit in the city's central park. it will honor those who've lost their lives in the line of duty as service members, law enforcement or firefighters. the ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. well, this morning, the memorial day weekend travel rush kicks off and laura and i can't wait to

5:07 am

get away. what about you? stick around right there, though. you know, triple a is actually forecasting nearly 44 million people heading out of town for the memorial day holiday. that is a lot of people set to hit the roads. most travelers will pack up the car to head out, totaling around 38.4 million people. another 3.5 million will fly to their destination. both forecasts are up compared to last year, and here is a live look for you this morning at palisades tahoe, which is providing the last chance for weekend diehard skiers and snowboarders out there. and you know what? it is the only resort actually operating still in the tahoe basin. memorial day is its final day. now, if you can't make it to tahoe, mammoth mountain is also open through memorial day down in southern california. but carry for folks heading to tahoe. how's it looking for them? it looks great, and i think there will be a lot of people heading to the sierra to enjoy the last little bit of snow there in the upper

5:08 am

elevations, and we have some beautiful weather as we go throughout the weekend. for those heading in that direction, here's another live look at palisades tahoe, where we are once again seeing some snow in the upper mountain and our temperatures in some of the resorts are in the upper 50s. for highs. you can pack the bag with a light jacket, but then maybe something a little bit heavier for the overnight as our temperatures drop down to about 33 degrees here at home, we're going to see some nice weather. we're up to 80 in santa rosa, 73 in oakland and san mateo in the upper 60s. we'll see upper 70s for the south bay and in the tri-valley some mid 70s. tomorrow it gets even cooler. look at this. we're only talking mid to upper 60s here for the south bay. much of the east bay, one of the warmer spots will be fairfield that only 73 degrees. so we're going to lead into that weekend with some cooler temperatures. and saturday will be the coolest. so we'll get a look at that in just a few

5:09 am

minutes. mike hitting the road heading to the sierra. how much are we paying for gas? you know what, carrie? yeah. if you're making a getaway on the sly, check. fox. see? gasoline. it's over there. the lowest for livermore. your getaway fill up is 424 there off old first street. if you're leaving the south bay, the lowest in san jose for 69 at the arco on north capitol avenue, just a suggestion. and heading out through solano county, through the north bay. vallejo's low is 479 at central gas on springs road. get all this information wherever your route will be. it's a gasbuddy.com. you can also report the best deals out there as well. let's get out to the roadways where we're talking about smooth flow of traffic very early right now. we expect to see midday traffic really start to ramp up as we're looking at vasco road. still no problem out of contra costa county, over in toward the tri valley. and as we're looking at the rest of the drive, we're looking at a smooth flow. markets around your exits, over toward the bay bridge, the bay bridge at a beautiful view. we'll leave it at that. over to you. all right. thanks mike. well, in the south bay, regular end of school year stress will

5:10 am

be compounded by the trauma of violence on one high school campus. one student stabbed another arrested at christopher high school. this is in gilroy today in the bay's. kris sanchez joins us from the campus this morning. and, chris, what can those students and even parents expect as those students return to class today? well hi there marquez. so i want to start by saying that the student who was stabbed is okay. they are recovering in the hospital and there will be counselors on site today for any student or staff member who feels they need to talk to someone. but some parents say what they really need are metal detectors on this campus. now, according to gilroy police and christopher high school, two boys were in a fight in a school locker room when one of them pulled a knife and stabbed the other. a school resource officer was on campus and was there almost immediately and called a code blue. lockdown which lasted about an hour as gilroy police investigated. it was all clearly traumatizing for students and you just hear a big

5:11 am

commotion and i just see a kid laying on the floor and bleeding out and then everyone's just circling around, and then they they haul them off. now there are still two weeks of school left here at christopher high school. graduation isn't until june 6th. and so between then and now, we have this and students still have finals and the end of year festivities as well, which will maybe feel a little bit different in gilroy. kris sanchez today in the bay. yeah, it can be a trying time after what happened there, but hopefully students gather together, rally together, and everything's going to be all right. all right. chris, thanks. it is 511. switching gears, the fast food wars are certainly heating up this time. breakfast is on the battleground next on today in the bay. some are calling mouthwatering new deals meant to win back your business. banks say they're getting phone calls from computers pretending

5:12 am

to be customers. how do you tell if something is human?

5:13 am

5:14 am

out. we are seeing mostly clear sky and cupertino will be in the upper 50s at 8:00. it's a cool morning with a mild afternoon ahead and breezy winds and it's going to be a little bit cooler than it was yesterday, so we'll check out all of our microclimates and what to expect

5:15 am

into our holiday weekend coming up. and we're looking at san rafael southbound with these tail lights inbound toward eventually san francisco and the golden gate bridge. an easy, smooth drive. right now, this is an important travel day, so we're watching both the incoming and the outgoing flow. we'll talk about that coming up. well good morning. very happy thursday to you. you know what you can look at any number on this board that you want to i mean there's live nation. they're going to face some real trouble. all that matters though is nvidia. yesterday i said that this was the most important stock in america. now i feel like i undersold it. nvidia in santa clara reported profits after the closing bell. after the markets were closed, which is why you see this down arrow and they were incredibly good. profits up 600. the company also announced a ten for one stock split. that means every share of nvidia you have, you now own ten. this will bring down nvidia share price from around 1000 to 100 more people can buy it, presumably run it back up again in just the last 24 hours.

5:16 am

nvidia has added $173 billion to its valuation. that's more than the entire market capitalization of intel just in the last 24 hours. i want to be clear here. we're not saying nvidia is worth more than intel or twice as much. it's worth way more than that. i'm saying the value of this company moved up more than the value of intel since our last newscast. we expect any minute now, the us government will announce it's suing live nation, the parent company of ticketmaster. it will be joined by some states attorneys general. wouldn't be surprised if california is among them. they'll accuse ticketmaster of being a monopoly, which is a familiar complaint. many members of congress said the same thing during recent congressional hearings. well, this is steve cramer, he was just indicted for making a deepfake of president biden that was played as a robocall in new hampshire, encouraging people not to vote in the primary there and to save their vote instead, nbc was one of the very first to identify

5:17 am

cramer behind the effort to help a different democratic candidate in the race, guy named dean phillips, the first company to identify how he did it was a firm called pindrop security pindrop is used to figure out what voices are real and what are fake. their identification software is used in call centers because companies like banks get thousands of incoming calls each hour saying their customers. but not every customer is a real person. sometimes it's a deep fake trying to get into an account. mike inouye would be interested in this because he's a linguistic linguist. they use linguistics. the study of spoken language, how people form words, and computers try to copy, for instance, the way someone might say, hello paul. so when i say hello, my mouth is wide open when i said hello and my mouth shuts down when i say, paul, there's only a certain speed with which i can do that because i'm human. these machines don't care about those speeds. and so what they do is they're saying things in very, very rapid

5:18 am

fashion, which, though it sounds , good to the human ear, there is no corresponding physical anatomy that could have gone through those configurations in time that quickly. and we're able to pick that out. and ultimately, in audio, you have 8000 samples of your voice. every single second. so when you sing, yes, you know, you can sometimes tell that sounds fake, right? and i go, why you go? i don't know, it just isn't right. it's because your brain knows the way that we form words and how we do it, and the computer doesn't really understand it yet . yet. hello. exactly. yes wow. interesting. all right. thanks, guys. you bet. all right. it is 518 right now. and if you're up this early, we'll breakfast might be on your mind. and wendy's is now scrambling its way into your list of options. the chain announcing its new $3 breakfast deal. it's going to

5:19 am

include the english muffin with bacon or sausage and egg and seasoned potatoes. wendy's is known for its deals, including the $5 biggie bag for lunch or dinner, and this comes a week after mcdonald's said that it's going to introduce a limited edition $5 value menu at the end of june. jonathan mays, the editor in chief of restaurant business, says that chains are very eager to lure back inflation, fatigue consumers. is it a race to the cheapest fast food meal? we are going to see a lot of this this year, particularly in the fast food business. restaurants have to get people back in their stores the best way to do that sometimes is offer them some kind of value, particularly given the way inflation has hurt a lot of us consumers. now, you can watch that full story on today that's coming up for you at 7:00 this morning right after us here on today on the bay. trending for you this morning for some lucky dogs. it's more than just frisbee taking flight today. that's right. throw him

5:20 am

out there. barker's first plane flight takes flight this afternoon. the goal here is to allow dogs to fly an aircraft's main cabin instead of the cargo crate. the initial new york to l.a. flight is sold out. ticket start at $6,000 for both passenger and passengers. best friend all furry passengers have access to calming trees, noise canceling earmuffs and calming jackets. ross include stops in new york, l.a, london and paris. so obviously that's for the bigger dogs and the pampered bigger dogs. oh yeah, big time. you know, you could fly a whole family. i think there's a lot of people that would actually like some of those, you know, amenities. yeah. i mean, yeah, some people are nervous fliers. that's true. yeah. especially with some of the storms they've been having. yeah. that's been another thing with the amount, the how fast the jet stream is flowing and it's creating more turbulence. i mean that's been pretty wild. now we know there's going to be a lot of people

5:21 am

catching flights today, getting ready for the memorial day weekend, going to see family. and we are starting out with some beautiful weather. take a look at this live shot of san francisco right before the sun rises. and we're enjoying some really nice weather. it continues today, although you will need a jacket as the cool and breezy weather continues. it's going to be slightly cooler compared to yesterday, and as the temperatures drop tomorrow, it's going to become very windy. and then for the memorial day weekend we are going to see more. may gray and a chance of drizzle, especially in san francisco and along the coastline right now as you're heading out in palo alto, it is 52 degrees 54 in oakland and san francisco at 53 degrees. all clear. but let's talk about those winds. it's going to be breezy with the coastline. parts of the north bay, santa rosa, san francisco seeing about the same wind speeds really picking up as we go throughout today. and look at that at 5:00, 42 mile per hour winds. and some of those gusts may be even higher up to close to 50mph late

5:22 am

tonight, while it's all calm and some of the valleys. so we're going to see definitely microclimates and a wide range and how our temperatures feel. but the temperatures by itself will be in the mid to upper 70s for this afternoon. so it's going to be in the upper 70s for walnut creek, while oakland will see a high of 73, upper 60s for san mateo. and then looking at san francisco will be in the upper 60s downtown, while the marina district is in the upper 50s and looking at some mid to upper 70s for much of the north bay. santa rosa today we'll see a high of 80 degrees. looking for some things to do this weekend. tomorrow night we have the bay fc game in san jose at paypal park. it's going to be a cool evening as well as some breezy winds. we'll be watching everything for you. mike's been keeping an eye on the roads. any issues popping up? not yet. now we're wondering about the folks getting out of town, so there may be an easier drive this morning as folks get ready to leave. maybe later. morning and midday. so bay bridge toll plaza

5:23 am

pretty standard flow right here. we'll watch over the next 20 minutes as things will change. there we do already see that slowing for highway 37 right on schedule. so that is going on. there's a little blip here. southbound 101, probably a crew clearing just north of that robin williams tunnel. from the live look we see a smooth drive getting into the city itself. and in fact, the golden gate bridge midday is today. tomorrow and through the weekend may get more traffic than you traditionally see because folks may be in town or traveling around town right now. the bay shows a nice smooth drive for these speed sensors, though. back to you. all right. thanks so much, mike. 522 right now and this morning, there's new concern over real looking fake videos surfaced online. next year on today in the bay. we're going to give you the steps you can avoid fallinvictimg

5:24 am

5:25 am

5:26 am

i in political ads and as the election season ramps up, you may see increasing outrage information in your social feeds and on the internet. some of them might be deep fakes. you know, those very real looking fake videos created with someone's likeness or voice. some may be made with ai. they often say or do something with a real person might not. according to a recent survey by the palo alto based identity identity verification service, 72% of consumers actually worry about

5:27 am

falling victim to a deep fake. 60% of consumers believe they'd know a deep fake when they see one. the chief technology officer at jumio says. you have to look very closely. there's movements of the face, things like details around the eye that is not perfect. there's also unnatural movements of the head as it moves across the screen. and of course, the voice. there can be a pauses that are unnatural. there can be inflections that are unnatural. so there's definitely mechanisms , both visual and auditory, that can be used to detect deep fakes. and of course, if you combine that with just plain old common sense, well, the frightening thing is getting better and better. and he says that famous people aren't the only ones that can fall victim to deep fakes, because there are hundreds of deep fake and face morph programs that almost anyone can use to create fake

5:28 am

videos to trick just about anyone. yeah, happened to me recently. someone said something and i thought it was like, oh, and i said to someone else, they're like, that's not real. and i looked at it closely and i'm like, oh, so you really do have to look at it closely. interesting okay, we'll pinch real thing right here it is. no no no. all right look it's 527 for you this morning. top stories. we're looking at east bay police. they say they need your help this morning. they're looking for an armed robber who stole nearly $100,000 from the contra costa county fair. good morning. i'm ginger conejero saab, and we're live here at sfo. on this early thursday morning, which is expected to be the busiest travel day heading into the memorial day weekend. up ahead, we'll give you the forecast for travel and possible delays that you may expect. keep it here. you're watch

5:32 am

area. we're going to extend the beautiful weather that we've had, and it's still going to be really nice and comfortable and slightly cooler. so take a live look outside in san jose as we're getting this thursday started. and here's what to expect. it's going to be a mild day and turning breezy for the afternoon, but the winds get even stronger tomorrow as temperatures drop and we'll see the cool weather settle in for our memorial day weekend. with clouds and below average temperatures. still fairly comfortable today, with upper 60s for san mateo, low 70s for mountain view over toward hayward and low 80s for concord, and then looking at the drop in temperatures tomorrow, some of us seeing those numbers coming down another 5 or 6 degrees. so we'll talk about the weekend. mike, you're seeing a couple of crashes along 101. and this is where we typically see the build anyway. so this isn't affecting the bill but it's on north 101. they're both on the shoulder. no major injuries. the arrow points north but remember southbound may be a factor starting in the afternoon. folks may make an early getaway through that area as well. we'll talk more about

5:33 am

the getaway traffic coming up. but right now that slowing in san martin up toward morgan hill may hold off traffic. just an extra couple minutes through san jose. we don't see that slowing just yet. the rest of the bay shows a smooth drive. the arrows show you where there is expected traffic flow. it's just now starting to show a little break. tap back over to you, laura. all right. thank you very much. we do have some breaking news. we're following overnight. one person dead, another hurt after a mobile home caught fire in the east bay today in the bob redell joins us live from the scene. he's in pleasanton this morning. do you know anything more about how it started or what happened? bob we don't know exactly how it started, but we got more information on what transpired after this fire started behind me. i just spoke with a battalion chief with the livermore pleasanton fire department. he tells us that his firefighter did try to save the elderly man who lived in this single story, double wide mobile home with his wife. but the fire flashed over and the captain who was inside trying to reach that

5:34 am

man, had to get out of the structure for his own safety. the fire started just before midnight. this home here in the hacienda mobile home park. this is on vineyard avenue in pleasanton. when fire fighters arrived again just before midnight, the home was already fully involved. the wife who lived here got out on her own. as you can imagine, she was very upset about the fact that her husband was still inside. the bbc tells us that she actually wanted to go back inside to try to save him, but they had to stop her from doing that, which again, the fire department did go inside and they did try to save him. we made an aggressive attack. we could see that there was a the smoke was hot. it was filling up the building, but we risk a lot to save a lot, and the first thing, captain, as soon as he came in, felt a lot of heat through his turnouts and his protective equipment, but he decided to continue to make that push in as far as he could until the conditions deteriorated on him. and then removed his crew to safety. and, we took the

5:35 am

actions that we had to take for, for, for our own safety and the crew safety. again, that man who was trapped inside an elderly man, sadly did not make it. his wife was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. the livermore pleasanton fire department is still on the scene. you can hear the engine right next to me. they're waiting for the sunlight so they can have the coroner come out and remove the man killed in this fire. and also, they want to get their investigator inside this home to try to figure out what caused this. they don't have any idea yet. reporting live here in pleasanton, bob redell today in the bay. all right. very sad. i know firefighters try to do what they could. thank you bob. we will continue to bring you updates on this story both on air and online. if you haven't already, you can download our free nbc bay area news app. you can customize breaking news and weather alerts that we send straight to your phone. 535 and new this morning, antioch police are looking for an armed robber who targeted a pair of contra costa county fair workers. it happened early sunday on

5:36 am

summersville road. this is near the fairgrounds located at the event center. well, the victims were doing a night drop at a bank. this is when that gunman approached. anyone with information should contact antioch police. police are asking for your help in catching a woman who stabbed someone at an east bay. chick fil a happened tuesday in emeryville on 40th street. police say this woman walked up to a customer, stabbing them in the neck before running out the door. the victim is expected to survive. investigators are calling it a random attack. if you know who this woman is, call police. well, it's believe investigators are now reviewing video footage to learn what sparked a fire at a peninsula scrap metal yard. the fire started yesterday afternoon at sims metal in redwood city. if you were outside in that area, you likely smelled it. that smoke even traveled all the way down to the south for bay a time. people were told to close their windows and stay indoors. one person in that area actually described the fire at its peak. by the time

5:37 am

the fire department department came there. there were flames or orange glow, about 40ft by 40ft by 40ft tall. it was amazing. well, sims metal released a statement tonight, reading in part while still too early to confirm the cause of the incident. we are working with the redwood city fire department and local authorities to investigate sims. metal apologizes for any disruption caused by the result of the incident. 536 for you right now and we are heading into a three day holiday weekend and summer travel season is taking off now, according to a memorial day travel is expected to be as busiest in nearly 20 years. goodness, this morning we've got team coverage as you plan your trip. meteorologist kari hall tracking your forecast mike inouye monitoring any impacts on your drive. but first, let's head over to today in the bay. ginger conejero saab. she is live at sfo this morning. ginger today is expected to be the busiest day. it seems like

5:38 am

everyone just wants to get away. including us. possibly no, we are here at sfo. that's right. good morning to you guys, laura and marcus. we're here at sfo terminal three of sfo. and yes, it is supposed to be the busiest day heading into this memorial day weekend. you're not seeing quite that busy travel rush just yet. you can see it's still about three minutes getting through that security point. things looking pretty smooth, but we just spoke very briefly with one of the employees saying that they're preparing for that rush in the next hour. so around 630 when we come back, we may see those lines change. let's take a look at some of those numbers from triple a forecasting this year's travel. they say this year's numbers are inching closer to a 2005 record of 44 million travelers. the forecast for this year is just shy of that, with 43.8 million travelers and over 38 million people are traveling by car. that that is the most road trip. triple a says it's ever seen 3.5 million by air. and both of those numbers are up 4% since

5:39 am

last year. but according to a triple a spokesperson, there's a surprising new category of travel that's quite popular these days. cruises have been gangbusters, as she put it since the pandemic, that industry was the last to come back online and it has just exploded. here is triple a's spokesperson giving her thoughts on why travel is still growing. two things there one. prices are not much higher than last year, so we're not paying much more for flights, hotels and car rentals. in fact, it really obviously depends where you're going for flights. but if you're willing to fly basic economy and maybe have a layover, you might be able to score a pretty cheap flight, especially if you book a for a flight that leaves tuesday or wednesday. those are the cheaper days. a good tip there. good reminder, and that busy air travel may also involve delays, especially if you are planning on traveling to tahoe this weekend or we should say delays just on the roads. caltrans

5:40 am

warning bay area travelers to be wary of delays because as i-80 has emergency construction starting in colfax and extending to the nevada state line, caltrans plans to pause some of that construction starting tomorrow afternoon and running through monday. but if you are planning on getting a head start today, some of those projects may add some time roughly 30 to 40 minutes. that is the projection. but of course those can very easily add up. now those are some maybe people trying to get on the slopes. this last weekend in tahoe. we'll have more on that in another story in the next half hour. but so far here at sfo, things looking smooth. we'll check back in the next hour guys, to see how see how or if things change. yeah. well you said it's nice and smooth. that's like yes a lot of those travelers. where are you going? get in there. i'll be right here. yeah. mike's going to be here for hours. yes. i don't have to deal with it. that's right. he was just saying it wasn't nice. when you're a reporter and you've got a flight that you've got to catch there.

russia. and right now, scott mcgrew, they're actually hitting with limiting any way hitting those targets inside ukraine. got to stay inside ukraine. if you're going to use our weapons, if you're going to shoot down a russian plane with a patriot battery, that plane has to be inside ukrainian airspace. if you're going to use a himars rocket to take out a tank, those tanks have to be inside ukraine. those are our rules. president biden sees this as a way of preventing the war from expanding or provoking a nuclear reaction from the kremlin, but ukraine is, by many measures, losing the war. president zelenskyy, in an interview with the new york times earlier this week, said what are you waiting for? pointing out every decision washington makes to increase aid seems to come a year too late. and indeed, president biden has been very cautious, resisting sending long range missiles until he did, resisting sending tanks until he did, resisting the sale of f-16s, until he didn't. the new york times has found a second instance of a

she's not the first to take the insults and still support trump. trump made fun of his opponent, ted cruz, back in 2016, making fun of the senator's wife's looks, implying his father had taken part in killing kennedy. but cruz came back into the fold. president biden, the first lady, will hold a state dinner for the president of kenya tonight. there is finally california wine back on the menu, a chardonnay from four hearts vineyard and a sparkling wine from ironhorse. both markets are sonoma county. for a while there, we weren't getting on the table. all right, scott mcgrew for us, scott. thank you. well, you know, california is one step closer to its push to get tougher on crime rings. state senators have passed a series of measures, including one increasing the penalties against organized crime. it would also make it easier for authorities to prosecute auto theft and it would require online retailers like ebay to verify the identities of sellers who make at least $5,000 a year in profits. that's a crackdown
